A bit of history, the Harewood area was initially settled to house the families of workers in the Edwardian era (early 1900's). This early settlement became know as "Five Acres," as the land was divided into five one-acre plots. These plots, as well as the surrounding areas, were further divided over time, and development on newer homes progressed. Harewood maintained its status as a more rural district with its own municipality until it was annexed by Nanaimo in 1976.
Property types and price ranges available in Harewood will vary, and the good news is that there is likely something for any budget. Most single family homes in the area are selling for $300,000 - $500,000, but properties in the million dollar range can be found, as can properties under $100,000.
