Youbou and Honeymoon Bay: The town of Youbou, on the north side of Cowichan Lake, flaunts the nation's authorized handset, a five and ten pin bowling alley. The lake's southern shores include an environmental reserve with more than two dozen types of wildflowers just as an all-around prepped fairway. The two regions offer sunny beaches and are doors to the locale's terrific backwoods undertakings. 

South Cowichan: Mill Bay, Cobble Hill, Shawnigan Lake People in the area embrace the healthy lifestyle that comes with easy access to mountains, 34 parks, lakes, and the sea. Climb, bicycle, take a horseback ride along the Cowichan Valley Trail and cross the reestablished Kinsol Beam (one of the world's longest wooden railroad supports). Ranch markets, craftsman studios, and wineries speck the pure, peaceful scene. Golf with dazzling perspectives on Mt. Bread cooks, or climbs up Cobble Hill Mountain for incredible views extending to the Bay Islands. Living in Lake Cowichan, BC

Lake Cowichan, heralded by King Edward the VIII as Canada's Fly-Fishing Capital, Lake Cowichan, having over 30km, is simply known as 'The Big Lake' by areas aboriginal ancestors. Modern outdoor enthusiasts, such as anglers and recreational boaters, regularly visit this large body of freshwater. Visit the paths of the nearby ancient forest of Carmanah Walbran to satiate your desire for adventure or refresh along the streams of the Cowichan River.

The small town of Lake Cowichan, alongside the nearby communities of Mesachie Lake, Skutz Falls, Honeymoon Bay, and Youbou, are within easy reach by road or adjoining waterways. Vancouver Island communities have been established alongside the salty seas of Lake Cowichan and its adjourning villages. A perfect summer vacation spot, having the warmest annual temperatures of 24C in Canada, is the southern arm of Cowichan Lake.

Lake Cowichan can be found on Highway 18, the southern region of Vancouver Island, 17.5 miles west of Duncan. Residents who live in Lake Cowichan enjoy spending the majority of their time outdoors. Lucky for the residents, they are nearby some of the best green spaces available. 

Cowichan River Provincial Park has almost 20 km, 750 hectares of wilderness that stretches from the village of Lake Cowichan to Glenora near Duncan. The park protects the vital river habitat. Runs of wild salmon and steelhead attract anglers, while Douglas-fir and towering western Hemlock forests attract the most passionate ecologists. 20 km of dynamic hiking trails attract hikers and fishers since it follows the scenic river from Gelnora and Skutz Falls.

Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy the waters of Gordon Bay Provincial, offering dozens of parking spaces and easy access to boat ramps along the shore. Anglers will find cutthroat and rainbow trout, as well as Dolly Varden Char, tugging at their lines. Another popular pursuit in Lake Cowichan is windsurfing. A good place for windsurfers can be found at Nitinat Lake, which has an outstanding wind supply. You can follow the road along the northern shore of Cowichan Lake to one of Vancouver Island's top windsurfing lakes.
