Honeymoon Bay, BC, Real Estate Market

An enchanting town, Honeymoon Bay is a little more than 4,000 square km long. At first, it was set up for worker lodging for the individuals who worked in the logging and ranger service ventures. An organization by the name of McDonald Murphy began logging outside of Honeymoon Bay in 1929. By 1947, when Western Woods Enterprises Restricted assumed control, the area included a cookhouse, bunkhouses, singular living quarters, and duplexes for families.

Honeymoon Bay has come a long way since then, and those looking for their dream home on the south side of Vancouver Island ought to consider this beautiful community. Most of the housing market includes detached, single-family homes along the lovely Cowichan shorelines. Homes available among the real estate listings in Honeymoon Bay have a wide assortment of property types for potential homeowners to look over.

The South End has many buildings with heritage designations, including family cottages built in the 1890s and early 1900s. Take a walk along tree-lined streets that give the feeling of a quiet residential lifestyle in the heart of Lake Cowichan. Today there is a mix of old cottages, homes, and heritage ranches throughout the south side of Vancouver.

Homes for sale in Honeymoon Bay along the river range from $150,000 to over $1,200,000, depending on the property's location, size, and age. Many waterfront homes offer scenic views out over the water and will cost a little extra, but are completely worth every penny!

Community Amenities

The climate on Honeymoon Bay is nearly unbeatable, as the summers are hot and perfect for being near the water, and the winters are short. This makes it a popular summertime destination for locals and worldwide travelers alike. The community triples in size during the summer months, as its year-round population is approximately 600.

There is plenty to do in Honeymoon Bay, especially for the outdoor enthusiast and nature lover. Here is a look at some of the best attractions in the secluded community:

Honeymoon Bay Ecological Reserve – Formerly the Honeymoon Bay Wildflower Reserve, the Ecological Reserve provides a circuit of easy walking trails that gives visitors the chance to experience the many stunning wildflowers in the area. April through June are the most popular months to visit the reserve, as vibrant lilies, bleeding hearts, and violets are blooming, creating a spectacular vision of Vancouver flora.

Cowichan River Footpath – This 20 kilometre hiking trail follows the scenic Cowichan River from Glenora to Skutz Falls. There are two trailheads that are accessible from the Cowichan Valley Highway. Walking this path in its entirety will take approximately 7 hours. If you're not prepared for such a strenuous and long hike, there are plenty of smaller loops that are perfect for the whole family. You'll even come across a small yet exciting zipline and playground at the eastern trailhead!

Stoltz Pool – When you're seeking a spot for a beautiful picnic, a popular destination for Honeymoon Bay residents is Stoltz Poo. With views of the Cowichan River from the vast green spaces surrounded by mature maple trees, Stoltz Pool offers a tranquil setting, perfect for a day out with the family.

March Meadows Golf and Country Club – Located on South Shore Road in Honeymoon Bay, the challenging, semi-private nine-hole golf course is a beautiful course perfect for golfing enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park – This provincial park is home to some of the world's most giant spruce trees; this old-growth forest is located just southwest of Honeymoon Bay and gives visitors a firsthand view of BC's pristine wilderness.
