Port Alberni, a larger city located in the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District is a deep port city. It sits at the very head of Alberni Inlet, which is the longest inlet on Vancouver Island. It is home to more than 17,700 people, making it one of the larger cities in the area. A vibrant, modern lifestyle exists here, but only minutes from the city is a dense forested area, mountain-like backdrop and a deep, beautiful bay. Once an area where native Tseshaht and Hupacasath First Nations of Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribe called home, the area was later settled by the Spanish. As a large community, Port Alberni residents will find everything they need here. This includes a strong school system, a large commercial component, and various museums, parks, and activities. Residential real estate here is growing in demand but remains affordable. The median home price here, as of October 2015 is $219,000 and the market growth stands at 0.59%.
